Mandu Wall

Mandu Wall is a wall dive on the outer edge of Ningaloo Reef in the southern section of Cape Range National Park, near the Mandu Creek area, where the reef drops steeply toward the Indian Ocean.

Overview

Mandu Wall is part of a cluster of wall and deep reef sites along the outer western edge of Ningaloo — alongside sites such as Hole in the Wall, Milyering Wall (which reaches approximately 27 metres), and the Colosseum — where the reef structure is dissected by crevices, ledges, and caves. Hard coral formations at the shallower sections give way to deeper walls with soft coral and sponge growth.

The outer reef position means significant current is common at these sites, which drives pelagic fish activity along the wall face. Turtles, grey reef sharks, trevally, and schooling pelagic fish are regularly encountered, and huge potato cod and rankin cod patrol the deeper ledges. Parrotfish, damselfish, butterflyfish, and angelfish populate the hard coral sections. Manta rays visit the area from approximately mid-May, and humpback whales are occasionally sighted by divers from June through November.
