Privacy policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
The short version: ScubaSites is a plain static website. We don't run ad networks, we don't set tracking cookies, and we don't sell anything about you.
What we collect
- Server logs. Like almost any website, our web server keeps standard access logs — your IP address, the page requested, timestamp, and browser user-agent. These are used only to operate and secure the site and to understand aggregate traffic, and are not used to identify you personally.
- No cookies or third-party trackers. The site does not set tracking cookies or embed third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- Email you send us. If you email us — for example a correction or a dive-conditions report — we receive your message and email address. We use them only to read, reply to, and act on your message (a conditions report may inform what we publish about a site). We don't add you to any mailing list.
Third-party data
Pages display data from third-party sources (OpenStreetMap, OBIS, Open-Meteo and others). Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap when you view an interactive map; that provider may receive your IP as a normal part of serving map images. We don't share any personal information with these sources.
Your choices
Because we don't hold personal profiles, there's little to manage. If you have emailed us and want your message and address deleted from our inbox, just ask.
Changes
If this policy changes — for example if we ever add privacy-respecting analytics — we'll update this page and its date. If affiliate links are added in future, any associated third parties will be disclosed here and on the relevant pages.
