Aguila is a wreck dive site in Roatán, Caribbean.
Overview
Aguila serves as an alternate mooring for the El Aguila wreck complex near Sandy Bay, providing access to one of the three sections of a 75-meter (230-foot) cargo vessel intentionally sunk in 1997. Hurricane Mitch broke the ship into three pieces in 1998. This mooring point gives access to sections at intermediate depth (around 24 meters) while the deepest sections of the main wreck reach 33 meters. The hull surfaces are encrusted with sponges and corals after nearly three decades submerged. Groupers, moray eels, and garden eels are reported in the surrounding sand flats.
