Akitsushima is a historic wreck dive in Philippines Palawan, Asia.
Overview
The Akitsushima is the most historically significant wreck in Coron Bay — a 118-meter Japanese Imperial Navy seaplane tender sunk during a US air raid on 24 September 1944, now lying on its port side with the upper hull at 22 meters and the deepest section at 36 meters. The ship’s massive crane rests on the sand surrounded by schools of batfish and barracuda, and penetration through the hull leads to the engine room and a control room still fitted with gauges, dials, and the shell-lifting machinery for the deck guns.
