Coraya Beach Housereef North is a dive site in Red Sea, Middle East.
Overview
Coraya Beach Housereef North is the northern arm of the house reef at Coraya Bay, operated by Coraya Divers from their base within the Sentido Reef Oasis resort complex, approximately 30 km south of Port Ghalib. The bay opens to the northeast, sheltering the reef from prevailing winds and making it diveable virtually 365 days a year. The north reef is described as “beautifully vegetated” — a coral wall and reef structure with overhangs, pinnacles, and coral gardens beginning just offshore from the jetty. Average depth is around 13 m, with the outer wall descending to 30 m. Currents are minimal or absent on the north side. Access is via a purpose-built jetty with separate diver and snorkeller entry points. This is an excellent site for beginners, night dives, and daily house reef diving without needing a boat.
Marine Life
Lionfish shelter under overhangs and in crevices. Triggerfish and surgeonfish are common throughout. Turtles, moray eels, anemonefish (clownfish), and octopus are regularly observed. Sea cucumbers and blue-spotted stingrays are found on sandy patches between coral heads. Occasional whitetip reef sharks visit the outer wall. During early morning, schools of dolphins have been reported approaching the bay.
Dive Profile
Shore/jetty entry from the Coraya Divers base. The reef begins at a shallow sandy bottom (3–5 m) near the jetty, transitioning to a coral wall and garden descending to 30 m. Most recreational dives are conducted at 10–20 m. Very little current; long bottom times possible. Water temperature 24–30°C year-round.
Entry and Exit
Walk approximately 3–4 minutes from the dive centre to the jetty. Dedicated diver entry area with separate snorkeller platform. Zodiac transfer available to reach different sections. Night diving is available and popular.
Tips and Recommendations
Early morning and evening dives are best for turtle and moray eel activity. Night dives reveal lionfish hunting behaviour and reef invertebrates. Combine a north reef dive in the morning with a zodiac trip to the south reef in the afternoon for the full house reef experience.
Safety Considerations
Minimal current and calm conditions make this one of the safest daily dive sites in the Marsa Alam area. Fire coral is present on upper reef sections. Dehydration is a risk in warm conditions — drink water before and after diving.
