Overview

The Domina Coral Bay reef is the private house reef fronting the large Domina Coral Bay Resort in the Na’ama Bay area of Sharm el-Sheikh — a few kilometres from Na’ama Bay’s centre, with direct beach access. The resort operates its own diving centre (Sheikh Coast Diving Center) with a private pier, giving divers easy access to the reef. The housereef sits within the fringing reef system that runs along this stretch of the Sinai coast, with the typical structure of a shallow reef top transitioning to a slope and wall. The coordinates place it in the Ras Umm Sid / Na’ama Bay reef corridor, which is known for healthy hard and soft coral coverage and clear water. The resort also operates day-boat excursions to Ras Mohammed, Tiran Island, and other major Sharm el-Sheikh sites.

Marine Life

The fringing reef system along the Na’ama Bay coast typically hosts anthias, butterflyfish, angelfish, surgeonfish, parrotfish, moray eels, and lionfish. Blue-spotted stingrays are common on sandy patches. Hawksbill turtles pass along the reef wall. The coral structure provides habitat for nudibranchs, cleaner shrimps, and octopus.

Dive Profile

Shore/pier entry directly from the resort. The reef begins at the shoreline; depths vary along the wall from 5 m on the reef flat to greater depths on the outer slope. Most diving is recreational (10–25 m). Currents are generally mild inshore along this stretch. Visibility typically 15–25 m.

Entry and Exit

Shore entry from the resort beach or via the private pier. Suitable for all certification levels. Snorkelling is also available from the resort’s beach area.

Tips and Recommendations

Use the house reef for morning warm-up dives before boat trips to Ras Mohammed or Tiran. Evening dives can be productive for moray eel and lionfish encounters. Confirm current reef condition with the dive centre as coral bleaching has affected parts of the Na’ama Bay fringing reef in recent years.

Safety Considerations

Fire coral is present on upper reef sections. Boat traffic near the pier requires surfacing in designated areas. Strong afternoon sun — use high-SPF protection.
