Oberoi Housereef

Oberoi Housereef is the house reef of The Oberoi Beach Resort in Sahl Hasheesh, located approximately 30 minutes south of Hurghada airport. The reef runs for more than one kilometre along the resort’s beachfront and is accessible directly from the beach, making it one of the more substantial and accessible house reefs in the Hurghada area.
Overview
The reef wall extends for over 1 kilometre and offers multiple distinct dive sections at depths from 3 to 30 metres. Visibility is typically good given the resort’s position away from the busier areas of Hurghada proper. The reef is in excellent condition, with the Sahl Hasheesh coastal area benefiting from a degree of protection compared to the more intensively used central Hurghada reefs.
Marine Life
The house reef supports a diverse Red Sea community. Dolphins, rays, and occasional whale shark sightings have been reported in the area. The broader Egyptian Red Sea coastline in this region hosts over 200 coral species and more than 1,000 fish species; the Oberoi reef reflects this regional richness with hard and soft corals, colourful reef fish, moray eels, and cleaning stations on the wall sections. The resort’s PADI-certified dive centre facilitates access.
Dive Profile
Shore entry directly from the beach allows multiple dives per day at convenience. The wall runs from the shallows to around 30 metres, providing varied diving at multiple depth ranges. Suitable for Open Water-certified divers and above; the resort’s dive centre provides guided dives and instruction.
