Three Corners Fayrouz House Reef North

The northern section of the house reef fronting the Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort, located near Port Ghalib (Marsa Alam), southern Red Sea. The resort is accessed via a jetty a few metres from the dive centre, and the reef is known for exceptional visibility, diverse marine life, and a rare dugong sighting record. The sheltered entry and exit points make diving possible in nearly any weather.

Overview

The Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort sits approximately 5 km from Port Ghalib Marina, between Marsa Alam Airport and the town. The house reef runs along the beach frontage in both a northern and southern section, with Extra Divers managing the on-site dive centre. The reef gradually slopes away from the drop-off into deeper water, hosting a rich coral garden with a diversity well above what most Egyptian resort reefs offer.

The northern reef section reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres. The reef structure is intact and in good condition, with octopuses, moray eels, and stingrays among the regular residents. Dugongs have been reported on the house reef — an increasingly rare sighting in the Red Sea. Barracudas and turtles are regularly observed, and occasional manta rays and whitetip reef sharks pass through the deeper sections. Seahorses have been found in the shallow seagrass areas connecting to the reef.

Boat dives to Port Ghalib and beyond are also available from the centre, offering access to offshore reefs including Marsa Shouna, Marsa Egla, and the broader Marsa Alam dive sites.

Marine Life

Dugongs (rare but recorded), sea turtles, barracuda, octopuses, moray eels, blue-spotted stingrays, whitetip reef sharks (occasional), manta rays (occasional), seahorses (in seagrass), anthias, butterflyfish, groupers, and parrotfish. Hard and soft corals throughout.

Photography

The dugong sightings — when they occur — represent one of the Red Sea’s most sought-after photographic opportunities. The shallow, clear conditions make the house reef well-suited to wide-angle coral photography. Macro subjects including nudibranchs and pipefish are found in deeper sections.
