Holiday Beyru
Holiday Beyru is a reef dive in South Ari Atoll (beyru meaning “outside” or “outer ocean” in Dhivehi), offering a scenic outer reef wall with solid coral coverage and a relaxed pace suited to intermediate divers.
Overview
Positioned on the outer edge of South Ari Atoll, Holiday Beyru is a gently sloping outer reef that descends to around 25 metres before the wall steepens into deeper blue water. The reef crest at 5–8 metres is covered in a healthy mix of hard corals — staghorn, table, and massive Porites formations — attracting dense populations of reef fish including parrotfish, surgeonfish, and butterflyfish. The mid-reef zone between 10 and 20 metres features overhangs and coral outcroppings where grouper and Napoleon wrasse take up residence, and hawksbill turtles are reliably encountered grazing on sponge growth. The outer reef face sees occasional passes by grey reef sharks and eagle rays. Currents are generally light to moderate on this section of the atoll, making it a comfortable dive for underwater photography. Visibility reaches 15–25 metres. Water temperature averages 27–29°C.

Tips for Divers
An unhurried reef dive ideal for photography. Check the outer reef edge for eagle rays and sharks before ascending to enjoy the coral gardens on the crest. Turtles tend to be most numerous in the mid-reef zone where sponge growth is heaviest.
