Entrence 128

Entrence 128 is one of a series of numbered reef entry points in North Male Atoll, marking a mooring position on the outer reef slope used by local dive operators managing shared access to this productive reef system.

Overview

Positioned slightly north of Entrence 110 along the same outer reef alignment, Entrence 128 accesses a section of reef slope characterised by good hard coral coverage and moderate current exposure. The site descends from the reef crest at around 5 meters down to 25 meters, passing through zones of branching and plate corals that provide habitat for reef fish communities. Overhangs at 15-20 meters harbour resting nurse sharks and large moray eels, and the deeper sandy patches host garden eels and jawfish. The outer reef edge at this latitude in North Male Atoll is part of a continuous reef system visited by grey reef sharks and occasional pelagic visitors pushed in by tidal flow. The numbered mooring system allows multiple operators to access adjacent sections of reef simultaneously without overcrowding individual sites.

Tips for Divers

Start the dive along the deeper wall section before working up to the shallower reef crest for the safety stop. This site and the adjacent numbered entries (110, 155, Base) are often combined in a two-tank format by Male day-trip operators. Check current direction on descent — the sheltered wall face will be on the down-current side.
