Deep Slope is a reef dive site in Philippines Malapascua, Asia.

Overview

Deep Slope is a gently inclined coral reef running along the northern flank of Malapascua island, where hard and soft corals carpet the rubble slope from the surface down to about 25 meters. The site is one of several around the island where thresher sharks occasionally pass through in the early morning on their way up from deeper water, though sightings here are less predictable than at Monad Shoal. Nudibranchs, flatworms, and small crustaceans are scattered throughout the coral rubble, rewarding patient divers who slow down and look closely.

Marine Life

Deep Slope rewards slow, attentive divers with a steady stream of nudibranchs, flatworms, and small crustaceans distributed through the coral rubble along the 25-meter slope. Thresher sharks occasionally pass through in the early morning, drawn from deeper water — sightings are less predictable than at Monad Shoal but do occur. Reef fish are diverse throughout, with schools of anthias over the soft corals and the occasional sea turtle resting on the larger coral heads.
