Kandoma Corner
Kandoma Corner is a reef corner dive at the tip of the Kandoomaafushi reef system in South Male Atoll, where the reef bends from the lagoon side to the outer ocean face and current deflection creates an ideal gathering point for reef sharks and large fish.
Overview
Corner dives are among the most productive in the Maldives, and Kandoma Corner conforms to the classic pattern: the geometry of the reef turning point creates an eddy that concentrates both predators and prey. The reef corner descends from a shallow crest at 5 metres to around 25 metres, with the bend itself sitting at around 12–15 metres — the prime depth for action. Grey reef sharks are the highlight, habitually patrolling the corner on both the lagoon-facing and ocean-facing flanks, and eagle rays are regularly seen gliding past the tip. The coral at the corner is dense and varied — brain corals and plate corals on the flat sections, with overhangs and cavities harbouring squirrelfish, soldierfish, and lobsters. Napoleon wrasse are almost always present in the 10–18 metre range. With manageable intermediate-level currents, this corner dive is approachable for a wide range of divers. Visibility averages 15–25 metres. Water temperature is 27–29°C.

Tips for Divers
Position yourself at the corner point at mid-depth (12–15 m) and wait — the sharks and rays will come to you. Avoid chasing fish and instead use the reef geometry to your advantage, staying close to the coral while the current brings the action past. Combine with Kandoma Beru for a full outer reef experience.
