Arthur's Rock

Arthur’s Rock is a marine sanctuary in Bagalangit, Mabini, with a gently sloping reef from the shallows down to 21 meters — one of Anilao’s accessible reef sites, named after the owner of the resort nearby, known for macro life across its soft coral-covered outcrops.

Overview

Arthur’s Rock is located off the coast of Anilao in Batangas and is one of the area’s established marine sanctuaries. The site features a gentle slope with boulder formations, soft corals, feather stars, sponges, gorgonians, and whip corals from the surface down to approximately 21 meters. The slope is suitable for beginner divers while still offering the macro diversity that Anilao is famous for. The adjacent Dead Palm muck area extends the critter hunting into the surrounding sand flats for divers who wish to explore further.

Marine Life

Arthur’s Rock hosts soft corals, feather stars, sponges, gorgonians, and whip corals that shelter nudibranchs, small reef fish, groupers, snappers, and other typical Anilao reef species. Blue-ringed octopus are noted at this site particularly on night dives. Frogfish and harlequin shrimp are associated with the rubble and rocky substrate typical of the site. Nudibranchs in various species are present throughout. Turtles and barracuda are occasional visitors. Note: specific species claims in earlier versions of this file (Ambon scorpionfish, pygmy seahorses, hairy squat lobsters) have been removed pending site-specific sourcing — these are plausible Anilao species but were not confirmed in available sources for this specific location.
